Rolling out of camp early in the evening to get to the airport. My flight was at 6 am and I was worried about sleeping too late in the morning, since I didn't have an alarm clock. I figured that I'd just sleep at the airport. I could sleep anywhere at this point. Well it turns out the airport closed at midnight. What the! I've never been to an airport that closed at night. One of the airport workers told me she could shuttle me to a hotel that was only about 25$, but I was in cheap mode. I had been spending a lot in Tallin. So I went to a night club 'til 2 am then walked back to the airport and slept on the cold cement. The box was made by a lot of dumpser diving in town for cardboard at the end of each da, Then I reshaped them all into this with many rolls of tape. I put my rear bag strap around the box, then tied that to an innertube that looped around my neck. I could ride with the box about eight inches off the ground. This gave me curb clearance so I wasn't riding in the middle of the streets. For tall curbs I'd just sit up a bit. The panniers kept the box away from me enough so it wasn't rubbing on my leg. I could take the bike apart, box it up, throw my tent and whatever else I could fit in the box, wrap my panniers in plastic, then ducktape them together as one bag/thing, wash my hands and be in the airport in just under an hour. |
